It is not as popular as some of the known names out there and that is the only thing that is holding it back from dominating the ecommerce world. Here is a 3dcart review with pros and cons.
While I love working with 3dcart, it just does not have that “wow” factor that most others do. However, marketing is where 3dcart excels while others fail. 3dcart could be the key to a door full of opportunities.
THINGS 3DCART DOES DIFFERENT
When looking at shopping carts, I almost get tired of reading the same things. A lot of the carts out there do not offer anything unique and enticing. This is where 3dcart has the advantage and why it made it to my list of the best ecommerce software platforms.
3dcart has an array of marketing features that just cannot be matched. Their business model is focused around promoting six core values – the customer being the primary focus. 3dcart is probably one of the very few that are working to preserve the environment and keep it green.
3DCART REVIEW – PLANS AND PRICING
3dcart has four monthly plans, ranging from $19.99/month to $129.99/month (see all plans here). Also, there is an Enterprise solution that goes for $199.99/month.
Their cheapest plan has some restrictions. The plan limits bandwidth to 4,000 store visits per month. It allows you to sell 200 products. Also, this plan gives you unlimited storage space and $175 in free advertising credits.
Furthermore, 3dcart has a 15% discount for annual prepays. And, a 15 day free trial is available as well.
3DCART REVIEW – 6 PROS OF USING 3DCART
I find 3dcart to be a complete shopping cart platform. Here is what I found to be the pros of using 3dcart for ecommerce:
1) FEATURE RICH SHOPPING CART:
With the exception of recurring billing, I think 3dcart has every feature I can think of. From an affiliate program to coupons to multiple ship to addresses, 3dcart has the necessary features to run and maintain an ecommerce store.
In addition to the already built-in features, 3dcart developers are constantly looking for ways to improve the shopping cart by releasing the latest ecommerce tools and features. I found this to be the strongest strength of 3dcart.
2) NO TRANSACTION FEES:
The list of shopping carts that do not charge transaction fees is very short. Thankfully, 3dcart is featured on that very short list. As I have mentioned in other reviews, I just hate the idea of charging transaction fees on top of the monthly plan fees.
3) 3DCART DOES SEO WELL:
3dcart offers an array of optimization tools to help you get the maximum exposure and outrank your competition on the popular search engines. Some of the optimization features I found useful are friendly URLs, META tags, alt tags, sitemap generator and a complete blogging platform.
When combined, these optimization options can make you rank better in no time.
4) UNLIMITED STORAGE SPACE:
If you have to add multiple images for each product, having unlimited storage space is going to be a big benefit for you. Research shows that customers are more likely to purchase a product that has multiple images – heck even eBay sellers say the same thing.
5) TRANSFERRING YOUR STORE:
For the ones that want to transfer an existing store to 3dcart, you will be amazed by this quick and easy process. 3dcart has a neat, easy to follow PDF guide for store transfers. And, if you happen to get stuck, their support team is standing by.
6) PAYMENT GATEWAYS:
When it comes to store payments, 3dcart is very flexible. On top of the traditional payment options – PayPal, Stripe, Authorize.net, Payment by Amazon – 3dcart supports nearly 90 other payment gateways. Even if you and your customers live outside of the United States, there is going to be a payment option available.
3DCART REVIEW – 2 CONS OF USING 3DCART
Here is what I found to be the cons of using 3dcart for an ecommerce store:
1) LIMITED BANDWIDTH:
3dcart tracks bandwidth a little differently from other ecommerce software platforms. Their bandwidth is tracked by the number of store visits you have each month. At the time of writing this 3dcart review, bandwidth levels range from 4,000 to 90,000 store visits.
Since there is no option for choosing unlimited bandwidth, you can expect to pay bandwidth overage fees for going over your limit. Current bandwidth overage fees are $5 for each gigabyte that goes over your limit.
2) OUTDATED ADMIN INTERFACE:
This is the one area that 3dcart but fails to fix, even after numerous user requests. 3dcart has an admin interface that lacks a modern look.
While customers do not see the backend, I feel that an ugly backend affects user-friendliness. I mean, store owners will spend a lot of their time in the store backend.
Maybe the next 3dcart update will release a new admin backend. I just hope the developers realize we live in the 21st century before it is too late.
If you are still uncomfortable with using 3dcart for your online store or simply do not think it is the best choice, here are two 3dcart alternatives:
Bigcommerce – Plans start at $29.95/month and offer unlimited products, bandwidth and storage space. The cheapest plan has transaction fees of 1.5%.
Shopify – Plans start at $14/month and offer 25 products, unlimited bandwidth and a gigabyte of storage space. Transaction fees are waived when using their in-house credit card processing service.
3DCART REVIEW – DO I RECOMMEND 3DCART FOR ECOMMERCE?
If you are looking for a reliable shopping cart that is capable of growing your online business at an affordable price, then give 3dcart a shot. So, yes, I would recommend 3dcart for those that are looking for a complete all-in-one shopping cart platform.
However, if any of the cons were a deal breaker for you, I would recommend looking at Bigcommerce and Shopify. You do not want to be transferring your store to a new platform every few months, so be sure to choose the cart that fulfills most of your needs.
